Match Preview: AB Argir vs. HB Torshavn

Read Time:1 Minute, 17 Second

After a promising opening day draw with Viking (0-0), AB were brought firmly back down to earth after suffering a 3-0 defeat to B36 last weekend.

AB are definitely the underdogs this season and will again need to raise their game against a decent visiting side.

The opposition, HB,  finished 4th last term, securing qualification for the Europa League preliminary round as a result.

Worryingly though, there was a 30 point and +60 goal difference between the sides fortunes across the entire domestic season.

However, and more positively, Vikingur were held on the opening day and they arrived ahead of that game with similar stats.

You do have to go back to 2016 to find the last time that AB took points off HB, with a 1-0 away win breaking up an otherwise poor record.

A HB player to keep an eye out for is Adrian Justinussen, the “star” of the visiting team.

Another positive when viewing the head-to-head records are that AB have kept the game much tighter when playing at home than away.

The last three encounters contested at the Inni í Vika Stadium have only been lost by a single goal.  AB will of course need to actually score a goal, at least in the right net, having conceded the opener against B36 in comedic fashion.

AB face HB Torshavn this Sunday (24th May 2020), hopefully we will see a first win and goal(s) of the campaign.

FIPL Result: AB 0-5 HB Torshavn - Justinussen the difference

We wrote in our preview that this was going to be a tough encounter, but it was dissapointing to see AB put on such a limp display. In short, this was the Adrian Justinussen show. A first half hat-trick, all from free-kicks, saw AB’s heads drop. Indeed, our adopted boys […]
